What Gary does with your inbox

Reads your inbox to spot spam, moves junk out of it, and tags what it finds so you can review. The only email Gary ever sends is an unsubscribe request. It never emails your contacts and never replies to anyone.

Why does Google say “compose and send”?

Google bundles archiving and labeling into a single permission it labels “read, compose, and send.” Gary uses it to file and tag your mail. The one exception is unsubscribing: for lists that only accept email opt-outs, Gary sends a short unsubscribe for you. That is the only thing it ever sends.
